Thank You To Everyone For A Successful Conference

With ten speakers plus a panel of journalists, we certainly had a full day at last week’s PR Success Strategies conference in Cape Town. Thank you to everyone that attended and all those involved for creating such a fast-paced, in-depth learning experience.

From expert journalist insights to discussions on online PR from industry leaders, the content was of a very high quality. The only thing lacking was more time to absorb it all.

A big thank you to Quirk eMarketing for the copies of their fantastic eMarketing Textbook that each delegate received. Thanks also to Jennigay Coetzer for the copies of her highly practical book, A Perfect Press Release - or Not? which several delegates won during the day.

We’d also like to give a big thank you to Jamaaludeen Khan from Jayz Internet Solutions for taking the pics you see here and for all the social media coverage during the day. Please click on any of these pics to see the rest of the photo album on Flickr. The video highlights will also be available soon.

Finally, thank you to all the speakers for the fantastic insights, ideas and concepts you shared with us, including the journalists who took part on the media relations panel discussion.

These speakers included:

Eric Edelstein, Springleap.com
Robynn Burls, Encyclomedia
Les Aupiais, Write Angles Editing
De Waal Steyn, Die Burger
Jo Duxbury, Freelancentral

Catherine Lückhoff, Mango - OMC

The feedback from the delegates was excellent and based on this, we plan to organise more similar events for Johannesburg and Cape Town in the near future.  Subscribe to this site to receive notifications of future events.

Learn Skills, Give Skills

Cans4Skills VideoBased on the brilliant Buy1Give1 concept of transaction-based giving,  our “Learn skills, give skills” initiative is a great way for all of us to make a lasting difference in people’s lives. We’ve teamed up with Breadline Africa to assist in breaking the cycle of poverty through education.

What do we mean? Well, for every delegate that registers for the PR Success Strategies For Your Business conference, R100 automatically goes straight to Breadline Africa to set up training facilities as part of their Cans4Skills initiative.

What is Cans4Skills you might ask? A can is the name that people in the container industry use for a shipping container. It’s a good name, because renovating cans into classrooms make so many new projects possible. Now Breadline Africa want cans to do the biggest job ever.

Specially-equipped cans are being taken into informal settlements where people have no work and no skills. The cans are used as workshops where young people learn basic skills like plumbing, housepainting, bricklaying, cooking, housework. Skills that will lead to jobs.

A classroom for delighted pre-school children. Breadline Africa aims to give unemployed young people the support they need to earn their own living and help them gain a sense of pride in doing so. Cans, or containers, are an excellent way to achieve this as they are able to be deployed anywhere the need exists, particularly where unemployed young people are spending their days. Cans4Skills can drive right into the desolate places where there are no opportunities and bring the chance of a life-time with them.
